Bankruptcy in Cambridge – You are Not Alone

by Douglas Hoyes

"I can’t sleep at night, I don’t know who to talk to about my financial problems, I feel so alone". Sadly, that’s a very common statement, in one form or another, that I hear from people in Cambridge.

Financial problems are not something we like to talk about. We feel embarrassed for getting into this mess.

I tell everyone the same thing: I’m not here to dwell on what happened; my job is to help you make a plan to get back on track. The past is over; let’s work to change your future.

I also tell people that they are not alone. Last year over 500 residents of Cambridge, Ontario filed a personal bankruptcy, or a consumer proposal. You can read the full statistics on our page about Cambridge Bankruptcy Statistics. In other words, you are not alone. The good news is that there are solutions.

One of my favorite solutions is a consumer proposal. In fact, over the last few years I have personally filed more than one third of all of the consumer proposals filed for residents of Cambridge (no other trustee can make that statement). I don’t make that statement to brag (well, maybe I’m bragging a little bit). I tell you that to emphasize that I have helped many people, just like you, and I don’t just help by filing a bankruptcy. When we meet I will explain all of your options, and you, and only you, will decide on the correct solution.

I look forward to meeting with you to work out a plan to deal with your debts, so call me at (519) 622-3773 or 310-PLAN (310-7526, no area code required) or e-mail me to arrange a free initial consultation. There is help available, so give me a call, and let’s get started.
