The personal bankruptcy process in Cambridge starts with a phone call to our help-line at 519-622-3773. If I’m not there when you call, one of my staff will ask you some basic questions (who you owe money to, what you earn each month) and then book an initial consultation with me in my Cambridge office.
The purpose of this initial meeting (which is free, by the way) is for me to assess your situation, and develop an action plan to deal with your money problems (that’s why the phone number you hear us advertise on the radio and television is 310-PLAN).
We won’t start by talking about bankruptcy.
First, we will discuss debt consolidation, credit counselling, and consumer proposals. Only then will we discuss bankruptcy in Cambridge.
I will make sure you get a chance to ask lots of questions, so feel free to make a list of your questions before our meeting, so I can give you all of the information you need.
Once your questions are answered I give you a copy of our information package with some information to read; you can then go home and read through the material, and decide on your next step.
I won’t pressure you into making a decision. My job as a trustee is to explain all of your options. You can then decide which option is best for you, at your own pace.
A good way to start is by completing our on-line bankruptcy evaluation, or call us in Cambridge at 519-622-3773 or e-mail me to arrange your no-charge consultation.
